Our Mission

We protect life and property by means of community policing.  The mission of the Bel Air Police Department is to understand our community’s needs and expectations through proactive involvement .  Our objectives will be achieved by dedicated and compassionate service to the community.   

 We strive to improve safety throughout Bel Air by exercising quality and dedicated investigative performances; high visibility traffic enforcement practices;  and promotion of public awareness campaigns to educate our citizens on the dangers of drug/alcohol abuse and the dangers of distracted driving. 

Resources will be allocated based on reliance of traditional knowledge of quality of life obstacles, community input, and data driven analysis of crime and crash events.   Policing in this manner, in addition to fostering healthy relationships with allied public service partners, will ensure that resources are maximized to their fullest potential.
