The State of Maryland has made many resources available to small businesses affected by COVID-19 in an effort to minimize impact on communities throughout the state.
Through the Department of Commerce, impacted Maryland businesses with under 50 full and part-time employees may be eligible for both grant and loan programs. The Maryland COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund Programs for Businesses will provide interim relief to businesses for operating expenses including rent, utilities and payroll. You can get more information on the programs and see if you qualify for assistance on their website.
The Department of Labor has created the COVID-19 Layoff Aversion Fund to held reduce or eliminate the need for layoffs in the small business community as a result of the pandemic. Applications for this support program have a quick turnaround time and are available now. Applications will remain available for 30 following the end of the State of Emergency declaration.
