Fourth graders enrolled in Bel Air schools are invited to take part in the Maryland Municipal League's annual "If I Were Mayor, I Would..." essay contest. Participants have until Friday, March 8 to submit an essay of up to 275 words -- which starts with the line, "If I were mayor, I would..." -- about how they would make their community better if they were mayor. Essays must be submitted electronically and sponsored by the student's teacher. The MML will notify winners in early April, and those who win the contest will receive cash prizes and a governor's citation. See the images included with this post for more information about contest rules and submission guidelines. Visit for a submission form and a study guide.
