Bicycle & Motorcycle Patrol

The bicycle and motorcycle patrols were established in the Bel Air Police Department to allow for community policing that provides closer contact with the public allowing direct contacts for problem identification and problem solving. This includes business and residential contacts that provide the community with interaction with the Police Department to develop a network with the public for proactive operation by the department.

The current motorcycles operated by the Bel Air Police Department are two 2020 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Motors that are maintained in exceptional fashion.   The Bel Air Motor Unit is frequently tasked with assisting allied law enforcement agencies with local and out of town assignments (funeral/dignitary escorts/parades) and traffic enforcement details.   You can see our motor officers in the summer and winter (BRRR) months.
